are we rivers
are we waves flowing beyond time
are we currents that light delivers
are we vessels that shine
are we waves flowing beyond time
at one with the earth and seas
are we vessels that shine
vibrations reflected through trees
at one with the earth and seas
do our roots sing
vibrations reflected through trees
shimmering like a hummingbird’s wing
do our roots sing
echoing the stars
shimmering like a hummingbird’s wing
music of the spheres
echoing the stars
are we currents that light delivers
music of the spheres
are we rivers
Another pantoum for Sue Vincent’s photo prompt, above. I tried all kinds of punctuation on this and none of it seemed right, so I finally decided just to take it all out.
You can supply your own, as needed.
I’ve been reading Richard Powers’ book “The Overstory”.
I love the artwork. If I were to take it as a Rorshach, it looks like a female figure bottom center, face turned to the side, and all-that-is swirling around her. The pantoum is mesmerizing and has the air of a mantra about it.

I agree with both of your points about the pantoum.

I find Sue’s photos often inspire a mantra or chanting rhythm.

It’s interesting that you compare it to a Rorshach, as I’ve done a lot of work with folding my paintings or monoprints. It’s definitely a form I feel an affinity for (although this was just painted without any folds).

A beautiful poem, Kerfe. It reads like a delicate spiderweb of words.

I love the way this unfolds and answers itself with its questions, Kerfe.

are we ripples of mindless hate flowing around the trigger of a gun
Sorry, I imagine you left those questions out on purpose. I’m sure nature intended us to follow the flow of life, waves, light, rivers that you paint so beautifully. What the off-roaders carry along is another matter.

Perhaps I should have waited for a better time to post this. But right now I can’t see when a good time might be.
I left my post of despair for today. It’s a haibun, kind of a greatest hits of the world’s violence these last few years…

I saw it. It’s the kind of message a lot of people need to hear.

well, I for one prefer as little punctuation as possible, or in odd places. so i like your removal.
and I suppose we are rivers. Chi, perhaps, or blood, or ions flowing negatively. ~

Thanks, I always have trouble with punctuation. Often I find it distracting rather than enlightening.
