covered with voices
songs like the rattle of bones
a chorus of leaves
mirroring the wind
spiraling dances transformed
with patterns winging
newly colored hours
stillness in constant motion
shadowing the light
My September grid, and an autumn contemplation for Frank Tassone’s #haikai challenge 102.
The elements are turning.
The seasons are turning–and I love your imagery–though it seems pretty summery here today.

We are having a grey day. Yesterday I noticed lots of leaves on the sidewalks too. The birds are quite restless.

Yes, we heard some different bird song this morning, and yesterday we watched a sparrow courting. 🙂 It rained here earlier, but now the sun is out–though I think we’re supposed to get thunderstorms later.

Still lots of green in your collage though yes, we are spiralling towards the end of the year. It’s very odd but I wrote a poem yesterday using very similar imagery.

There is still a lot of green, but you can feel it turning. The sense of anticipation, of change on the edges, seems very vivid this year.

I see the need for a change. Everything is drooping, withered. I can almost hear the trees gasping.

I love the graphic representation of summer shifting towards fall. That took some time to put together. Beautiful haiki.

Thanks Jade. I have this long-time obsession with grids. Like embroidery, a meditative repetition.

You’re welcome, K. Grids mean order and order within chaos can be grounding and relaxing I think.

The juxtaposition of “newly colored hours” with “shadowing the light” is perfect for autumn.

Thanks Ken. I’m happy to see autumn this year (even though it seems to be moving back to summer today…)
