awaken
into the morning–
feel the wind
sleepwalking
in time with the sun as it
rises restless, veiled–
Unable
to become other
than yourself,
follow the traveling waves–
calling to the birds, singing
each branch into green
A shadorma chain for Colleen’s #tankaTuesday inspired by the photo, above, chosen by last month’s winning poet, Jane Dougherty.

How beautiful, Kerfe. I love the misty mornings turning into the mystical person who we all harbor inside of us. Your art looks like the sea – composed of sand, seaweed, and magic! ❤

Thanks Ken. It seems very dreamlike to me, and the birds made me think of coming out of a dream, as they always wake me in the mornings.

I love the gentleness of your tanka, Kerfe, and the imagery of the lines:
‘calling to the birds, singing
each branch into green’ –
so calming and peaceful.
The artwork is beautiful!

Hey Kerfe — Hi poet!. Wanted to let you know I am “temporarily” sightless in my right eye from a retinal disease. It is a struggle fir me to write, but I will still wrote my pieces, going very slowly. Reading at any length is extremely difficult, and causes painful headache — so wanted to say thanks for contributing to OLN. But I won’t be able to read what you wrote, yet I wanted to visit. I spent a little time writing this best I could with one eye, i copied it, and I am pasting it in here to say hi. Got an operation coming up in about a week when the infection is down. Hopefully things will get back to normal.thanks, Rob
