# Introduction

- This mini-course is designed to inform educators about Problem-Based Learning, PBL, with a focus on its uses in Mathematics. It is broken down into 3 units. The first is
*What is Problem-Based Learning?*. This unit is an introduction to PBL, and covers some of the benefits and key factors for success of PBL. The second unit is*Teacher & Student Roles*. This unit discusses the responsibilities that each participant must fulfill, including joint responsibilities of classroom community. The last unit is*Planning & Activities*. This unit contains information to consider when planning your own PBL lesson or activity. Sample activities are also provided.

- Understand the process of planning a Problem-Based activity or lesson
- Review some sample activities and lesson ideas
