are your wings broken
or are they merely hidden,
a secret composed
of rags, following the wind
unfurling as the crow flies?
For Frank Tassone’s #haikai challenge #109, scarecrow. Also inspired by Van Gogh.

This made me think of so many things! Lungs in a rib cage, the spread wings of a bird like the notorious blood eagle. And the crow liberated. Much more crow orientated than scare.

Thanks Jane. I always see wings on scarecrows. It’s also eerie how my wing paintings often look like lungs. Not sure what to make of that.

Maybe lungs look like wings. Nature recycles good ideas.

Nice thought here – scarecrow kindred with crow.

This is actually quite a positive message, Kerfe. A gorgeous picture too.

I see a human form with wings flying over a cornstalk, travelling between two peaks to reach the blue sky. So intriguing. 🙂

To me this looks like the crow lifting off, and the scarecrow has the green wings to follow. Many wings are hidden under tattered rags. I love that expression.
