who is it
knows my name, the sounds
I answer
to, who knows
how to call my thoughts, how to
cleave to what is not
my body,
who knows what was there
before bones
before blood,
what belongs only to me,
sacred, uncontained
For Sue Vincent’s photo prompt, above.
Very appropriate for the time of year. Discovering who we are is the biggest question of all.

One with no end it seems.

Stunning, Kerfe… both the eternal question and its answer in a few perfect words.

This makes me think of some ancient text–I guess these questions are eternal.

Thanks Merril. They are. I was trying to make it spidery, but writing can be like that too.

I enjoyed your poem, Kerfe. I like this artwork too, with its lumpy texture.

Thanks Robbie. I used acrylic to monoprint on top of my watercolor right out of the tube, so that’s what gave it the texture.

Very dark image to who knows my name, sacred and uncontained.

Thanks Olga. It’s a mystery how we can ever know ourselves or each other.
