I hold out
my hands and wait for
the moon to
fill them—I
close my eyes to balance on
the edge of the light
I render
myself, quiet the
quivering,
awaken
the colors beyond darkness–
depths turned inside out
Shadorma for Colleen’s #Tanka Tuesday words, give and shake. Photos are of last night’s full moon as seen from the sidewalk in front of where I live.

You’ve created gorgeous images in this poem, Kerfe. I love the idea of balancing on the edge of moonlight – and then, in the second stanza, the depths of darkness turn inside out with colour!

I like the thought of there being colors beyond darkness and letting the moon fill one’s hands.

Tanks Frank. If we reach up we can hold the moon.

It does. I especially like to see it through trees.

Those images, holding light in your hand, being on the edge of light or darkness, are ones I find very comforting and easy to see. Lovely poem.

That was the one clear night in ages. It’s raining again for the past 2 days.

It cleared here enough last night to catch sight of the moon behind the clouds. I never take my phone out with me though.

Sometimes that light, filling yet never slipping through, is all that keeps me alive.

“Gossamer” touches nicely on the gentle aspect of moonlight, as well as the lacing of tree branches through that light.

Thanks Ken. The trees always frame the moon well, and I was happy with my photos for a change.
