my dream is magic rising
my dream calls spirits
cosmic bridges
wishes joined to starry wings
wings singing songs into the air
the spirits dance their circles through the portals of the clouds
we are but voices sailing
the ancient shores of secret galaxies
A quadrille for dVerse where Linda asks us to think about magic. My quadrille is a cento, composed of lines from poems that pop up at my blog with my friend Nina, MethodTwoMadness, when I search “magic”. I did have to add one word to bring the total number of words to 44, but otherwise the art, the title, and all the lines are taken from my old poems.
Obviously it’s a subject I consider frequently.
I love the stencil repetition in your collage and the cosmic nature of your background. Your prayer (it reads like one to me) gives me the goosebumps. After just reading how it all came together, it reminds me of a witches’ brew.

A cento is kind of like putting together a recipe. That’s a great description. And collage too, for that matter.

Have we ever done a Cento at d’Verse? I like the line/ my dream calls spirits cosmic bridges/.

Thanks Glenn. I don’t remember one, but I’m a fairly recent participant.

I like the “spirits are walking” feel to the art and the expansive feeling of the poem.

Thanks Claudia. I think those spirits have more room to wander these days.

Yes, they do. Both in the physical world, bet they like the peace and quiet! and in our heads, where it is not so quiet.

Thanks Kim. It was interesting to see how often, and similarly, I’ve explored this theme.

What a cool idea to do a cento from your own poems. I suspect I’ve used magic quite a bit, too. I love your winging, singing magic–which I also had. I love that collage, too–it looks 3D.

Thanks Merril. I was actually looking for a poem to revise, but the cento worked out well. And it is a kind of revision I suppose. That collage us one of my favoritestuff too.

Of course for the words, but the title is perfect for the fact that your cento is based on your own lines.
