attention
wanders, feet moving
by rote, the
mind busy
with itself—unaware of
color sound or sky—
dark spots on
the sidewalk—rain wakes
me from an
already
forgotten reverie–like
Crow calling my name
A shadorma pair for Colleen’s #tanka Tuesday, poet’s choice of words, inspired by the dVerse word provided by Sarah, rain.
What a wonderful dream like reverie. It reads like falling rain.

That’s just perfectly balanced. The rain as a pull back into the world. It’s just exquisite.

Thanks Sarah. I do need nature to get me rooted in place when I’m too much inside my own head.

I like how the rain wakes one but the reverie is already forgotten.

Thanjs Frank. I am known to be spacey. Forgetting things has been a lifelong challenge.

I almost wrote the big spots of rain too. I like Crow calling you from your reverie. They like to keep us fixed on essentials.

I like the thought of Crow calling your name and, with the rain, drawing you from your reverie.

Rain and crows–perfect. It’s like two parts of nature calling and balancing. I can imagine walking around in a daze to be awakened by rain drops–and crows (always).

Spectacular tanka!!!!! I love reading and writing it, a most difficult form to manage well. You have. And the art is also perfect.

Thanks Helen. It’s actually shadorma, which feels like a natural form to me. I agree that a good tanka is difficult.

The rain can break the monotony but also came as an unpleasant surprise… bring umbrella and wellies
