The shadows follow my intersections with the moonlight as I move the ground with my feet. I am not thinking of who I am or where I might be going.
Cocooned in myself I walk alone, yet I remain threaded to the aliveness of what passes me by. I cross paths and spiral through scattered clouds, patterned in parallel with the shining dark sky.
who

circle of night?
More moon meditations for Frank Tassone’s haibun prompt at dVerse.
You know, it strikes me that this might be how animals think, not self-aware except in relation to other things.

Thats an interesting idea. We are animals, after all, and probably have moments that are close to our shared nature. We just don’t notice most of the time.

Yes, it could be the kind of thought that gets dismissed as stupid—just concentrate on yourself!

This is very evocative with so much essence of mystery. This line made me think of a nice, cold midnight walk:
“The shadows follow my intersections with the moonlight as I move the ground with my feet.”
Brings back good memories. Amazing writing, as always.

I really think like Jane, there is something very much like an animal in this. I think maybe a fox or something.

Thanks Bjorn. A fox would fit.

Beautiful and surreal. The haiku complements the prose with such a primal impact. Well done, K!

So mysterious, and magical, too. I think others are right that there is a sort of animal awareness here.

Thanks Merril. It’s interesting what you don’t see in your own work until someone points it out to you.
