some days seem
to go nowhere—hours
surround, merge,
a mass of
waiting—you can feel the weight
on your chest inside
heart slowing
barely breathing your
skin sweating
density
as your body disappears
your mind wandering
caught without
contingency—all
locations
remain un
named, uncalendared, unchecked,
suspended, untimed—
a structure
of vast hidden plans,
dimensions
flattened in
to absence, its contents left
carelessly behind

A shadorma chain for the NaPoWriMo Day 4 prompt, to use as inspiration a photo from @SpaceLiminalBot. I chose the photo above.

What a great image of the liminal you’ve left me with, Kerfe. It’s the nothingness of abandonment that I think you captured. ❤

Thanks Colleen. There were some interesting photos to choose from. Between is a place we can all identify with.

So many definitions of liminal. It’s a great word for our challenges. 😍

I really enjoyed this, Kerfe, and I’d never heard of the shadorma before… I’ll have to give it a shot.
I think these lines were my favorites – I felt them viscerally.

Thanks David. The shadorma is probably my favorite form– 3/5/3/3/7/5 syllables. Somehow it’s very compatible with the way I think.

It’s a lovely photo as such but it’s you who gave it structure.

You channeled the character of the place well. A place not very good to be in 😦

That’s so funny that we both did a shadorma chain today! You captured the feeling of this creepy place.

I seemed to be attracted to the desolate landscapes today. Thanks Merril. The shadorma is always appropriate I find.

You’re welcome. I think the shadorma allows for more flow than some other forms.

I agree. It flows naturally with the way I phrase things anyway.

– but so many hidden possibilities within those dimensions!

True Ingrid. We need to look hard for them sometimes.

This sounds like a familiar state of mind–a suspended existence.

I love that photo! You captured that not quite here sense, or almost gone. Limbo, I suppose.
