Waylaid by words
that didn’t seem to
belong to anyone
or anything—animal
vegetable or mineral?
I sang madly,
shamelessly, attempting
to distract myself
with volcanic praise—
What is this blue substance?
I wondered, discreetly
floating beyond all
awareness, and spelling
each watery sound.

Merril’s randomly generated wordlist is entirely to blame for this quadrille containing the word given to us by Sanaa at dVerse, spell.

Sometimes words are just riddles.
They might be riddles, but they tell the same riddles they told Merril and I. You changed shame to shameless too, and had a volcano and lots of blue. It all comes together in the end.

And people pore and argue over liturgies when it’s so simple.

I take the blame. 🤣 The blue and questions find you everywhere.
It’s so funny that we chose the same words and changed shame to shameless.

Great minds…
I do find the wordless opens up a different set of possibilities.

Yes, it does create different possibilities. That’s a good way to put it.

Both Jane and Merril have posted them on Sundays. It really does expand possibilities.

Now that is such a mesmerizing riddle! How beautifully the artwork matches your verse.
When I write from the list, mine will be very prosaic. 🙂

Thanks Punam. The list is a good way to expand on your usual vocabulary, and in that way it can surprise.
