the frozen sun casts its image
on the glass as if inside a mirror
as if unaccustomed to dusk
it changes what can be seen
and also what can not—
the outlines dissolve into air
is that a story or a dream
that appears misted in breath?–
a shadow of nothing

Sanaa at dVerse introduced the line messaging poem, where the last lines of each stanza form their own poem. I’m not sure mine is really a message, more like a stray thought.
Off prompt for NaPoWriMo.

It’s a message for anyone who cares to listen. The frozen sun, that’s exactly what you have painted, and the shadow of its breath.

It’s a disturbing thought, but not so far-fetched, unfortunately.

It works both ways well, Kerfe. It’s all an illusion … yet real enough…

Yes, both/and. Thanks Jade.

Like the B&W (not that dislike color), but refreshing image. Maybe that old hot/cold media notion – this being more hot because our imagination needs to participate more than if it were color. Or maybe, just me, today.

Black and white definitely creates a different feel. I like black and white photography too.

I feel the same way about yours. By the way, that’s a great cover you created for Jude!

Thank you, Kerfe. We’ve had so much fun creating these covers. Jude is very thoughtful about his writing. There are some great hints to the story on this cover. (wink-wink).

Wow. The monochrome art and the poem with its chilly core are a perfect pairing!!

Thanks Muri. I have accumulated so much art now, there seems to be something in the archive to fit every poem.

I really like the poem that evolves out of the last lines of each stanza. It is echoed in the ethereal beauty of your paintings.

Yes, I haven’t been inspired by the last few, so I not bothered that I don’t have time for them. 🙂

Beautiful, all. Another interesting form. A shadow of nothing sounds ominous.
